The idea for Commemoration.be was born from a deeply personal experience.

When my grandmother passed away, I felt the need to pay tribute to her in a way that would outlast time itself. So I created a memorial page in her memory. This space allowed me to share my grief, tell her story, and give her family, friends, and everyone who knew her the chance to honor her.

As tributes and memories were shared, I rediscovered parts of her life I hadn't always known about: her achievements, the moments that shaped her, and the mark she had left on so many hearts. This experience showed me how precious it is to preserve the memory of a loved one.

A few years later, my father also passed away. Naturally, I created a new memorial page to honor him. Then more requests followed, for other loved ones, other families, other stories worth preserving.

That's when it became clear: if these spaces of remembrance had meant so much to me, they could also bring comfort to others facing the loss of a loved one.

Having worked in IT for many years, I had the skills needed to turn this idea into a real project. So I decided to create a simple, respectful platform, accessible to everyone, dedicated to memory and remembrance.

Today, Commemoration.be is the result of that journey. Every page created on the site is a place of reflection, sharing, and legacy. A place where memories live on, where stories are never lost, and where everyone can honor the memory of those who mattered in their lives.

Because the people we love leave us one day, but their memory deserves to live on.
